Dear Colleagues and Participants of the XX EACMFS Congress,

I would like to thank you for your active participation, lectures, oral contributions, poster presentations as well as many interesting scientific conversations during the XX EACMFS Congress.

A total of 1926 participants (of which 1499 participated in the scientific programme) attended the congress! We had the pleasure to welcome two fantastic keynote lectures including the Levignac Lecture by Bernard Devauchelle and the Čelešnik Lecture by Victor Johnston. A total of 60 invited speakers and 9 Guest Societies presented their work, along with 400 free oral communications. The 24 Masterclasses spread over the congress week were attended by 596 participants. I am very proud of these facts and figures which show that the congress was a success!

During the congress, 569 e-posters were made available for on-line viewing. As a result of your scoring of the electronic posters (1212 votes), three Awards were handed out; for Cosmetic Facial Surgery, Congenital Craniofacial Surgery and Surgical Head and Neck Oncology (Eric Fossion Prize).

The winners of these awards are:

• Simon D. Jones, D. Drake from Morriston Hospital, Swansea, United Kingdom;
• Jörg Heine, A. Schmiedl, J. Wiltfang J., A. Haverich, K. Kallenbach from the University of Kiel, Hannover Medical School, and University Hospital Heidelberg, Heidelberg, Germany;  
• Peter C. Kim, D. Park from the Daegu Catholic Medical Center, Daegu, Republic Of Korea.

The Leibinger Prizes were awarded to Sebastion Torres, Baucke van Minnen, Samuel Mattine and Racquel Guijarro. The BIOMET 3i Grant for Implantology went to Chiara Copelli and the Rosalind Dancygier Travelling Scholarship (UCLH) to Panagiotis Stathopoulos. Yoav Leiser won the John Lowry Congress Scholarship and Victore Palarie the Hugo Obwegeser Travel Scholarship.

Ian Martin from Newcastle upon Tyne was elected Junior President-Elect (2014-2016). Aakshay Gulati, from London UK (aakshay@yahoo.com) was elected Trainee Representative 2010-2012.

I hope that you all enjoyed the congress programme from a scientific and social point of view. Thank you very much for being with us in Bruges as well as for your compliments about the congress.
